Men's Group Work
Have you ever felt there is a struggle going on about who you really are and what you really want? Are you going through a life change, uncertain circumstances or experiencing grief?
This is why we created a dedicated group for men – an accessible forum for men to share in a safe facilitated space, utilising a science-backed approach to help men develop coping strategies while supporting each other.
What is a mask?
A mask is a symptom, not the cause. It is anything that you do or respond to over a long period of time that you intuitively know is not healthy for you.
This can include dependencies on alcohol, drugs, food, etc. Or emotional behaviours such as anxiety or anger that hurt you or others.
Masks can also block human connections, leading to isolation and loneliness.
What is covered in the program?
Our 8-week program is divided into three phases. Each phase builds resourcing and empowerment for the man to become ‘the best’ person he can be.
Phase 1 – we discuss the nervous system, window of tolerance (WoT), triggers, etc in a way that easily explains why we or others behave. We go into how to recognise a trauma response, and how we all have existing tools to support how we respond to life events.
Phase 2 – we move away from the group, and enter 1:1 sessions with Peter. During the phase, we will have two, 2-hour 1:1 sessions (total four hours) covering therapy/breathwork. These sessions are private and remain confidential between Peter and the client. The aim of this phase is to go deeper in a way that fully supports the uniqueness of the client.
Phase 3 – this last phase starts when all participants of the group have finalised their 1:1 sessions with Peter. In this phase, we look specifically at masculinity. We look at the stereotypes of masculinity, the importance of masculinity in society, and we look to add and expand the groups view of their own masculinity. We explore the adding of the ‘C”s – such as compassion and connection – to each individual’s view of their own masculinity. We don’t judge. We look to add traits and skills to support the man in a broader (and healthier) view of themselves.
Let’s build the strength within us, together
